Psst … We’ll Give You a Clue: They All Involve Video

The only guarantee in life (other than death and taxes, but we’re going to ignore those ones for the time being) is change. When it comes to video production and the technology associated with creating video content, being able – and willing – to adapt to change is the difference between staying ahead of your competitors and crossing the finish line in last place because you got a really bad stitch. Or something.

Of course, it would help if we all had access to a cup of tea leaves and a crystal ball, right? … No! If you’re ready for a head-start on the video front, here are our top video trends to watch for in 2018.

Video is set to explode

If you’re in the business of marketing, you’re probably well aware that video is the new black, especially on social media. But if you’re yet to jump on the video content bandwagon, your return probably hasn’t taken a nose-dive just yet. We feel like it’s important to warn you, though, that video is set to explode in 2018, so if you still choose to ignore the advice, you’ve got no one to blame lesser returns on but yourself!

Let the stats do the talking:

  • 43% of people want to see video content from marketers
  • Almost 52% of marketing professionals worldwide think video gives them the best return on investment

Volume is important too:

  • 86% of business-related video views take place on desktop, versus 14% on mobile
  • 18 is the average number of videos posted by businesses each month, and businesses have an average of 293 videos in their library

Video content doesn’t have to be long – in fact, longer doesn’t equal better:

  • 56% of all videos published in the last year are less than 2 minutes long

And when it comes to video type, the most common are explainer videos, product demos, how-tos and testimonials.

All this to say that visual and audible messages conveyed through video are significantly more memorable than by simply reading them. A smart marketing manager has already incorporated video into their marketing strategy, but an even smarter marketing manager will recognise that they need to do it too – and make 2018 their year. Not sure where to start? We know it can be daunting. Have a chat to the friendly Onepost Video Production team – we’d love to help out.

Live video is the new black

You’ve probably heard of Facebook Live and Instagram Live, but if you’ve never acted on it … 2018 could be the year! Live video is expected to be even more popular next year, both from a business/customer engagement point of view, and from a live event point of view. Live video on social media doesn’t have to be flash and appeals to the DIYers among us (unlike explainer videos and corporate video which require a professional video production company to execute them well).

Live events increase engagement

Speaking of live video, offering customers and staff the opportunity to engage with an event – even if they’re unable to be there in person – is a great way to set yourself apart from the pack. Live video coupled with live events enable businesses to create both a buzz around their offerings, an immediacy that watching pre-recorded videos just can’t do, and an inclusivity that keeps staff and customers engaged and coming back for more, even if location prevents them from attending in real life.

The rise and rise of video production companies

With all this talk about incorporating more video content into not only marketing strategies but also how you run a business, we understand that some business owners might be getting a little worried. They might not have the know-how in-house to pull together a great video that could go viral, like the latest video from Air New Zealand. They might feel like they don’t have any creative ideas, or that they have no idea which end of an HDMI cable goes into a TV (or whatever). Professional video production companies have all of that sorted, so you can focus on your core capabilities. Maybe you’re in the market for a new corporate video or explainer video that tells the world about your business, or a how-to video that gives step-by-step instructions about how your product works. Maybe you’re keen to give live streaming a go at your next corporate event. Whatever the problem, Onepost Video Production has the solution. Drop us a line today – we’d love to help.
